Visit & Hours
What are your hours?
Our general hours are:
M–Th: 7 am – 10 pm
F: 7 am – 11 pm
Sat: 8 am – 11 pm
Sun: 9 am – 10 pm
Note: Individual tenants may have different hours. Visit the tenants’ page or check their social media for their current schedule.
What are your holiday hours?
We remain open on most national holidays, though hours may be limited for certain tenants. We are fully closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. For holiday-specific hours (Easter, New Year’s Eve, etc.), please check our social media or banner updates near those dates.
Is there on-site parking available?
Yes - free, onsite parking is available. During peak periods, overflow parking is directed to the Riverwalk Garage (accessible from both Blount and Mimosa Ave.). For home game days, parking in the main lot is only available for Kern’s paying guests and must be validated by leaving a same-day receipt visible in your dashboard in the event you leave the site. We also offer designated gameday parking (until 9 am the next morning) via day pass or season pass - contact us in advance or check with the parking attendant day-of.
Are you handicap accessible?
Yes - we offer handicap parking, accessible entrances, and interior pathways that meet ADA standards.
Do you offer bike access and nearby public transportation?
Getting here is easy — Kern’s is right next to a KAT bus stop (routes 41 & 44) and offers plenty of bike racks around the property for cyclists.
Events & Group Experiences
Do you accept reservations or seating for groups / events?
We do not accept reservations in the open-market area (seating is first-come, first-served). However, in our sit-down restaurant, Eggspectation, reservations are accepted with a call ahead of time. If you’re interested in booking a private event or group gathering in one of our dedicated spaces, please visit the ‘Event Spaces’ tab above to review options and submit an inquiry.
Do you host live music or events?
We regularly host live music, outdoor entertainment, movie nights, and more. Check our ‘Events’ page or follow us on Facebook/Instagram for the latest schedule
Will you show the UT game?
Yes - when local channels carry the broadcast, we generally show games on large screens across the event lawn and indoor market areas.
What should I bring to watch parties?
Bring your Tennessee gear, comfy lawn chairs, and your friends! We handle the rest.
Dining Experience & Policies
Are there gluten-free / dietary-restriction options?
Many of our vendors offer gluten-free, vegetarian, or vegan items, though availability can vary. You can view each vendor’s menu under the ‘The Hall’ tab and see what they currently offer.
Do you offer online ordering or takeout?
Many of our vendors support online ordering and takeout via their own websites or through third-party delivery services (DoorDash, Grubhub, UberEats). Check out their individual pages under ‘The Hall’ for details.
Are alcoholic beverages available?
Yes - several bars in the hall serve craft beers, wine, and cocktails, plus nonalcoholic options. Please note that alcoholic beverages are served only at licensed bar areas and not at all food counters.
Do you allow outside food or beverages?
No - we do not allow any outside food or beverages, including birthday cakes. Exceptions are made for the dietary needs of infants and medical determinations.
Do you take cash payments?
No - we accept all major credit cards and debit cards (including tap/contactless). We also offer virtual gift cards on our website, redeemable at nearly all vendors (excluding F45, Orange Nail Spa, and Eggspectation).
What type of service can I expect?
Kern’s is a casual, premium dining hall — there is no table service or host (outside of Eggspectation). Simply place your order at your vendor of choice and seat yourself anywhere across the hall.
Facilities & Guest Amenities
Is the facility family-friendly?
Yes - we are a great destination for families, with diverse food options and outdoor lawn space! The rooftop bar and any bar counters or lounges may be restricted to 21+ during certain times.
Are you pet friendly?
Yes - we adore pets! Our outdoor event lawn is pet-friendly, and we provide water bowls for your furry friends. Please keep pets on a leash at all times and either clean up after them or notify our porter team if you need assistance. For health and safety reasons, animals are not allowed indoors, with the exception of service animals, which are always welcome in accordance with ADA guidelines.
Is there Wi-Fi available?
Yes - complimentary Wi-Fi is available for our guests to use during their stay at the hall.
Do you provide free water?
Complimentary water stations are located throughout the market for guest use.
Do you offer changing stations?
Yes - we have numerous changing stations located in the bathrooms throughout the market.
Do you sell merchandise?
Currently, we do not sell merchandise, but we hope to in the future. Check back or subscribe to our newsletter for updates.

Building & History
What is the history of Kern’s Food Hall and the building?
The building first opened as Kern’s Bakery in 1931 and became an iconic regional bakery. Over the years, the structure has been carefully restored — original steel beams, wood ceilings, and characteristic flooring remain intact. Visit ‘About’ → ‘History’ to explore the full timeline.
